ITINERARY FOR 4 HOURS:


1. Live seafood at the East Coast
Don’t miss the East Coast Seafood Lagoon, where some of the best local food and catch of the day can be enjoyed al fresco by the waterfront. Nearby, the East Coast Seafood Centre is often packed with locals and tourists – try the barbequed stingray, black pepper and chilli crabs, deep-fried squid and garlic prawns.

2. Experience the heartlands in Tampines
For a glimpse of suburban living in Singapore, whisk yourself to Tampines. This modern housing estate is abuzz with activities. Discover modern malls alongside family-run “mom and pop” shops, and endless eating options. Don’t forget to visit a “wet” market where intensive haggling is the order of the day.

3. Shop from Raffles City to Millennia Walk
Shopping in Singapore promises high street to haute couture, and cameras to computers. For the Ultimate dose of retail therapy, visit the popular shopping belt that begins at Raffles City and ends at Millennia Walk – with City Link Mall, Suntec City (World’s Largest Fountain is found here) and Marina Square in between. The superb connectivity brings miles of uninterrupted shopping and dining under one roof.

4. Esplanade-Theatres on the Bay
Take a break from retail - head to the Esplanade Theatres on the Bay, Singapore’s new and exciting performance arts complex. A lovely waterfront location and intriguing architecture make this a necessary jaunt for every traveller.



ITINERARY FOR 4 - 6 HOURS:

1. Explore Singapore’s Ethnic Enclaves
Step away from Singapore’s bustling modernity and discover her ethnic heritage and traditions. Examples include:

(1.1) Joo Chiat/ Katong
Visit the traditional Peranakan shophouses, formerly residences of wealthy Straits Chinese and discover the rich heritage of Peranakan culture. Shop for colourful Kebayas and exquisite beaded slippers; and excite your palate with delicious Nonya fare – a wonderful medley of Chinese and Malay cuisine.

(1.2) Kampong Glam
Kampong Glam, the original seat of Malay royalty, is today a proud enclave of Malay cuisine, costumes, wares and art. Experience bazaar-style shopping and come away with the most delightful basketware, semi-precious stones, perfume and natural oils at bargain prices.

(1.3) Little India
Little India, stretching over Serangoon Road, Little India Arcade and Campbell Lane, is a centre of Indian culture, commerce and leisure. Try a sari, watch spice grinders mill aromatic spices or have your fortune told by a parakeet, all in a day. (Don’t miss the banana leaf curry rice at Muthu’s Curry House along Race Course Road.)

(1.4) Chinatown
Formerly coolie lodgings, Chinatown today is a colourful picture of old Chinese bakeries, emporiums stocked with jade and silk tapestries, Chinese medicine shops and markets. It’s the place to unearth great bargains and authentic Chinese food. Visit the Chinatown Heritage Centre for an eye-opening re-enactment of the struggles of coolies and samsui women in their dark, dank quarters.

2. Singapore Botanic Gardens
Spread over 52 hectares and minutes from the heart of the city, the Gardens consist of untouched primary forest and specialty gardens. Explore the diverse plant life within the lush grounds, including some 60,000 orchids at the National Orchid Garden.

3. Shop the World on Orchard Road
Orchard Road beckons with its ritzy malls, swanky cafes and luxury hotels. Find everything under the sun at our famous shopping street. Malls include:

(3.1) Ngee Ann City
With more than 100 specialty stores retailing the latest fashion wear, sports gear, stationery, jewellery and restaurants offering a smorgasbord of international cuisine, this is a mall for the whole family.

(3.2) Tangs
With its distinctive Chinese-styled green roof and red pillars, this homegrown store is hard to miss. Offering a wide range of local fashion labels, cosmetics, household products and electronics, there’s something for everyone.

(3.3) The Heeren

The Heeren is a magnet for the coolest shops in town, including the music mega store HMV. Journey through the colourful maze-like Annex at levels 4 & 5 for all things hip and funky.

(3.4) Paragon Extension

With a swanky new extension added in September 2003, The Paragon now has an even more impressive range of designer labels under its roof. Find Jean Paul Gaultier’s first ever boutique in Southeast Asia featured alongside Gucci, Mont Blanc and local jeweller Loang & Noi.

(3.5) Wisma Atria
Directly linked to Orchard MRT, Wisma Atria is a favourite haunt among yuppies. Shop for internationally-acclaimed labels such as BCBG Maxazria, FCUK, Emporio Armani and Atsuro Tayama. And after the shopping is done, chill out at one of the many trendy restaurants, bars and lounges.

4. Embark on the Food Trail
Eating is a national hobby of Singaporeans. At every turn, you’ll find cuisine that run the gamut from fine dining to street hawker fare. See if our passion doesn’t rub off after a few bites.
Examples include:

(4.1) Equinox
Located on levels 68 through 72 of the landmark Raffles City complex, Equinox provides spectacular views of Singapore and its neighbours. Choose from 5 extraordinary restaurants and bars offering fine cuisines and an extensive list of wines and alcohol.

(4.2) Tiffin Room
Visit the Raffles Hotel, the grand old dame of Singapore’s hospitality industry renowned for its charm and elegance. Enjoy a light mid-day meal at the Tiffin Room. Choose from the delectable buffet of Northern Indian fare, traditional savouries and sweets, or the Chef’s specialties.

(4.3) Lau Pa Sat
If you fancy local flavours at unbeatable able prices, head for Lau Pa Sat at Raffles Place. The airy octagon-shaped market of 108 years serves up a staggering selection of local cuisine over 100 stalls. Choose from a lip-smacking meal of chicken rice, succulent satays, spicy laksa or hand-made noodles.

(4.4) Chinatown Food Street
Savour the best of local hawker fare at the alfresco stalls of Food Street in Chinatown. Try the Hoover Rojak, Boon Tat Street BBQ Seafood, Whitley Road Big Prawn Noodles or Tiong Bahru Hau Yuen Porridge – all highly recommended. Alternatively, dine at one of the 12 acclaimed shophouse restaurants flanking both sides of the street.



ITINERARY FOR 6 HOURS:

1. Sentosa
Sentosa is Singapore’s premier island resort getaway. World-class theme parks, native fauna and flora and a 3.2 kilometre stretch of soft sands and clean waters make the island a welcome respite from the bustle of the city. Be sure to visit the Musical Fountain, Underwater World,Carlsberg Tower and Merlion.

2. Jurong BirdPark

A sanctuary for more than 8,000 birds of 600 species, Jurong BirdPark in the largest in Southeast Asia. Visit the world’s tallest man-made waterfall and walk-in aviary featuring free-flying birds from Africa and South America. Not to be missed is the Lory Loft, the park’s latest attraction.

3. Night Safari
The twilight holds many surprises, especially at the world’s premier night zoo. More than 1,200 nocturnal animals from over 110 species dwell in 40 hectares of dense secondary forest. Catch the Creature of the Night show, and get up close and personal with an exciting line-up of animal cast.

4 Singapore Zoological Gardens
Visit one of the most prized zoos in the world. Home to more than 2,000 creatures, our open-concept zoo makes clever use of rock walls and streams as natural barriers. Be introduced to some of our friendly animals over a wild breakfast.
